Notre-Dame Cathedral is one of the most important religious sites of France. It is huge, it is beautiful, it is the muse of several painters, novelists, musicians…Although it is now not possible to get in because of the dramatic fire in 2019, you will discover with your guide all insights (its political place in French history, its architectural values amongst many other stories) from the exterior until its reopening in December 2024. Then we will be ready to welcome you again!
Located in Île de la Cité, the heart of Paris, Conciergerie is the first royal palace in Paris. It homes exceptional Gothic rooms and a reproduction of the prison cells of the revolutionary tribunal. At the end of the 17th century, several persons were imprisoned in the Conciergerie, Marie-Antoinette is one of them.
The building is listed as a historical heritage site by Unesco.
The first of the Holy Chapels to be decorated with exceptional stained-glass windows, the Sainte-Chapelle is known for having housed Christ’s Crown of Thorns. It has spectacular stained-glass windows, providing “walls” of light that turns the Sainte-Chapelle into the jewel of French Gothic Architecture.
Do not forget to ask your guide to show you the oldest public clock. Parisians look at the time since 1371 on this wall!
