We designed for you an immersive tour in the Musée d’Orsay where you’ll discover the museum’s evolution from a rail station to a fine arts museum a few decades ago.

The collections of the museum showcase several masterpieces spanning from the mid-19th to the beginning of 20th centuries. Your guide will lead you through one of the most impressive impressionist and post-impressionist collections in the world. Delve into the works of realist artists like Manet, who paved the way for the impressionists, such as Degas, Pissarro, Renoir, and Monet.

You’ll have the chance to admire works of Cézanne, Van Gogh, Gauguin and Matisse.

Your expert guide will tell you about the techniques employed and shed light on the influences that various artistic movements had on eachother up until the modern art movement.

In addition to the masterpieces of Van Gogh, Monet, Renoir, Manet, Toulouse Lautrec … you will also discover art nouveau, incredible sculptures of Rodin and even an original Lady Liberty. Your guide will explain the history of this place. It was originally the Orsay Railway Station, constructed for the 1900 Universal Exhibition. The building itself is thus, in a way, the first “artwork” in the museum’s collections, presenting the art of the few decades between 1848 and 1914.

Your guide will have your timed ticket bought from the official Orsay Museum’s website. The tickets are personal, all guests up to 17 years old should have their ID card with a photo.

Restrictions and Recommendations

Tickets are timed and non refundable
Our tickets allow a quick access to collections, but the security check is a rule for every single visitor, we cannot skip the security line.
We operate this tour with only 6 persons for each guide. We do not operate for larger groups for our guests’ comfort. If you need to book for more than 6 persons, please keep in mind that you will have to be in different groups with different guides.
Please arrive 10 minutes before the meeting time. Our guides will have to leave on time and it is not possible to join a tour that has already started.
Please take into account mobility issues. If you need a wheelchair, a walker or a cane, we propose to book a private tour. There is a special itinerary for visitors with mobility issues, we cannot accept to modify the pace of the tour in our shared semi-private tours.
Big luggages, backpacks and umbrellas are not allowed in the museum.
Please take your ID card with a photo or passport with you, the agents of the museum may ask for it
The museum may close without previous warning. If this happens we will provide our guests some alternatives of course, to modify the booking to the available slots, a walking tour insead…If any solution suits your program you will be refunded according to our cancellation policies.
Some specific rooms of the museum have specific rules requiring quiet or a restricted possibility to speak in. Your guide will warn you about these rooms.
Musée d’Orsay often restores the art pieces or they may be on loan.
